You have likely heard or read E.J. Dionne.  He is a bestselling author and writes about politics in a twice-weekly column for The Washington Post and is a frequent commentator on politics for National Public Radio and MSNBC. He is also Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution, visiting professor at Harvard University, and professor at Georgetown University.

He is coming to the JCC in conjunction with the release of his eighth book, just one week before he visits us.

In CODE RED: How Progressives and Moderates Can Unite to Save the Country Dionne provides a blueprint for uniting progressives and moderates. Such a coalition may seem ungainly, but its strength lies in the shared goals of social tolerance, economic justice, and democratic values. Dionne addresses the impatience many feel with past failures and argues that progressives have often asked the wrong questions; here, he asks all the right ones.

CODE RED is both a call to act and a call to think. It breaks through the political noise and cuts against conventional wisdom, combining reporting and analysis with a realistic look at political possibilities. Dionne links history with contemporary developments and electoral outcomes with an appreciation for political philosophy and ideology. And he lays out a path forward because, at this point in our history, change can’t wait.
