Lion of Judah Recap

Lion of Judah and Pomegranate donors from Indianapolis, Louisville and Birmingham, Alabama gathered over Zoom on Wednesday, Nov. 10 for a conversation with actress, producer, and author Noa Tishby. Tishby spoke about her book, a “Simple Guide to the Most Misunderstood Country on Earth”, which chronicles the founding of the State of Israel and covers modern challenges both through a historical and personal lens. The talk was moderated by Birmingham community member and JFNA National Women’s Philanthropy Board member Sheryl Kimerling. The conversation ranged from why Tishby wrote her book to how she finds herself advocating for Israel both in her personal life and on an increasingly national stage. Tishby was asked if she has any acting or producing jobs in the works and she shared she is prioritizing her Israel advocacy because as she feels that it is so imperative to do right now.
Before the interview, each community gathered in a breakout room to connect. Many thanks to Mary Gorden for preparing a Thanksgiving themed D’var Torah and Karen Rothbaum, Women’s Philanthropy Chairperson for leading us in remembering donors who have passed away in the past year and celebrating new Lion of Judah and Pomegranate level donors.  Annual Campaign Co-chair Jennifer Schwartz shared her thoughts about the importance of the 2021 Annual Campaign and JFGI President Leslie Rubin updated the group about Federation operations.
While we enjoyed seeing everyone on the screen, the hope is that we will be able to return to in-person opportunities soon. Please watch your email for updates.
