Teen Board Members Kickoff Fundraising Efforts to Support Grantmaking

The members of the 2021-22 cohort of the Lou & Sybil Mervis YoPhI Teen Board are set to kickoff their 2022 fundraising efforts at their upcoming mid-January meeting. As in past years, the YoPhI Teen Board members will work as a group to fund their grantmaking efforts. In the first three years of the program, Teen Board members have raised and allocated over $20,000 to the local community and this year’s Teen Board members are up to the challenge of adding significantly to that total.
The group worked throughout the fall to define their values, study community needs and assets, and articulate a grantmaking focus through a mission statement. The Teen Board members are also collecting grant applications from non-profits. This consensus building process included meeting with local leaders to explore issues and strategies to address a range of impact areas from which the teens worked to create their mission statement.
