2023 Major Donor Dinner

On May 4, 90 Federation supporters gathered at The Bluffs at Conner Prairie for an inspiring and thoughtprovoking
dinner in support of the 2023 Annual Campaign. Discussing in depth the relevance of this year’s Campaign theme, The Power of Us, attendees were challenged by speakers to examine unmet needs in Indianapolis and around the world and how the Jewish Federation’s major donors can address them. Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett spoke about the privilege of being a partner for the Jewish community. Federation CEO Marc Swatez spoke about how community leaders continue to address rising Antisemitism and hate. Annual Campaign Chairs Karen and Mike Rothbaum spoke about the power of sustained generosity. Annual Campaign Chair Sandy Nachlis led a discussion with community members Caryl Auslander and Janine Shapiro about the power of mission trips and hands-on engagement. David Brown, Vice Chair of the Jewish Federations of North America and the evening’s keynote speaker, emphasized the power of collective impact through philanthropy to address the unmet needs in the Jewish community. The evening reinforced the critical role the Federation’s Unrestricted Annual Campaign plays across Greater Indianapolis for Jews and non-Jews, and shared commitment to tikkun olam, repairing the world.
