How long have you lived in Indianapolis? 10 years

Describe yourself in 100 words or less: I am a mother, partner, daughter, friend, and neighbor. I am a women’s health nurse practitioner and advocate for reproductive and sexual health and trauma-informed care. I work as the Director of Clinical Quality and Advancement at Health Care Education & Training and see patients through PATH4YOU, a statewide contraceptive access project. I am the “first lady,” biggest fan, and “mom” of the North Central Counterpoints and choir program. I am committed to the Indianapolis Jewish community and Indianapolis as a whole. I am a community builder. I am honored to be a part of this incredible group of leaders.

How do you give back? My professional work and my community engagement often intertwine, and I feel incredibly lucky to have a career in an area I am so passionate about. Through my work I get to advocate for and support women’s, reproductive, sexual, and adolescent health every day. Outside of work, reflecting my core belief that when women and girls are strengthened, whole communities are strengthened I am involved with the Women’s Fund of Central Indiana and Hoosier Women Forward. Within the Jewish community, I serve on the board of directors for Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation. I have also served for the last 4 years as a group leader for an amazing group of girls through the Moving Traditions Rosh Hodesh curriculum designed to “embolden teens by fostering self-discovery, challenging sexism, and inspiring commitment to Jewish life and learning.”

How do you envision the Indianapolis Jewish community in the next 10 years? I hope that we will be able to live our values in this community and in this state. To be proud, safe and comfortable in our Jewish identities and spaces here. I hope that our Jewish community will be a vibrant part of and committed to the city of Indianapolis itself.

What is one thing you look forward to as we come out of this Pandemic? The pandemic has clarified who and what in my life matters most. I hope to keep that clarity as we return to a fuller schedule and life. I am also looking forward to more live theater and generally being in community.

Any advice for younger professionals? Strive for flexibility. I mean this in two ways. 1) Be open to change – when I moved to Indianapolis 10 years ago, I could never have imagined where I am today in so many ways personally and professionally. When something changes or doesn’t work out, trust that there will be something else, likely better on the other side. 2) Prioritize and cultivate your identity beyond your job. Work towards the flexibility to create a work/life balance that allows you to know and love who you are without depending on your job title.
