Congregation Beth Shalom

Beth Shalom continues to thrive! This Reform congregation in Carmel saw a solid 50 percent increase in membership in 2014.

CBS Jewish Film Festival: April 23-May 3. Our highly successful film festival returns. Nine films will be shown over 11 days, plus  there will be a Klezmer band, food, and remarriages under a chuppah!
Shabbat Services: Every second and fourth Friday, 6:30 p.m. University High School, open to all.

Megillah Reading: Wednesday, March 4. Adults only! Come in costume! Join us for an adult reading of the Megillah, and don’t forget your noisemakers. Service appropriate for college-age and above.
Family Megillah Reading and Purim Carnival: Sunday, March 8, 9:30 a.m. Join our religious school kids for Megillah reading, games, and fun. Don’t forget your costumes and noisemakers for our Purim celebration.
Kol Zimra Shabbat: Saturday, March 28, 10:00 a.m. A musical Shabbat featuring Beth-El Zedeck’s adult choir, directed by Cantorial Associate Melissa Cohen. Join us for a Shabbat with familiar and new melodies.
The Four Firsts: Women Rabbis in American Judaism: Thursday, April 30, 7:00 p.m. Panel discussion with Rabbi Sally Priesand, Reform; Rabbi Sandy Eisenberg Sasso, Reconstructionist; Rabbi Amy Eilberg, Conservative; Rabba Sara Hurwitz, Orthodox; moderated by Dr. Gary Zola, director of the American Jewish Archives.  Free and open to the public.  Dessert reception following the program.

Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation

Chozen: The Chilling Story of Purim: Sunday, March 8, 10:00 a.m. Join us for our Purim Celebration and don’t “Let it Go” without hearing the “thawsome” story of Purim, followed at 11:00 a.m. by the IFTY Purim Carnival and lunch served by IHC’s Brotherhood.
Unraveling Our Jewish Texts: Tuesdays, March 10–April 14, 6:00 p.m. Unravel and explore our sacred texts. Examine texts from our holiest books, such as Torah, Mishnah, Talmud, and Midrash. The course will include an overview of Jewish liturgy and its basic structure. Cost: $30
Hebrew Reading Refresher: Tuesdays, March 10-April 14, 6:00 p.m. For those who know the aleph-bet but need assistance reading basic prayers. Fluency and accuracy will be built through practice in an easy-going classroom atmosphere. Cost: $30 members/$40 non-members
Sundays with the Rabbi: Sundays, March 15 and 22, April 19, 9:30 a.m. Participate in a three-week adult program led by Rabbi Krichiver. Stimulating discussion enhanced by a bagel and lox breakfast. Free-will donations to cover the cost of food are appreciated.

Casino Night and Silent Auction: Saturday, February 28, 7:30 p.m. 14th Annual Las Vegas-style event with black jack, poker, and craps! Hors d’oeuvres, desserts, wine, and beer with admission. Raffles and fabulous auction items available.
Purim Carnival: Wednesday, March 4, 6:00-8:00 p.m.   Purim carnival with food, Megillah reading following carnival. Fun for all ages! Come in costume, too!
