Newcomers Dinner in the Sukkah

Your Federation kicked off the effort to engage those new to our community with a Newcomers Dinner in the Sukkah. For us, a newcomer is defined as:
1. One who has recently arrived
2. Any person who has not engaged with the organized Jewish community for a significant amount of time (years, or ever), for any number of reasons
3. One with the potential to enhance and enrich our community

We practiced radical hospitality, ushpizin, by inviting all identified newcomers to share a meal in our sukkah. Over 100 people attended and greatly appreciated the warm welcome to our community and the opportunity to meet others and learn about agencies and synagogues in Jewish greater Indianapolis.
