Teen Starts Carmel Jewish Alliance Group

Marissa Halle, 15, single-handedly started the Carmel Jewish Alliance Group (CJA) at Carmel High School. The club’s focus is meeting new Jewish peers around Carmel High School and Indianapolis.
Halle has also taken up the position of being the president. Her background with the Jewish community is what gave her the idea to start the group.
“I created the group because I felt there was a need for a Jewish community feel at Carmel High School,” she said.
Halle’s ambition and love for Judaism is shown in her volunteerism with the Jewish Federation’s Adopt-a-Family program as well as other involvement opportunities within the Jewish community. She is also heavily involved in the Jewish Community Center (JCC) camp and the Goldman Union Camp Institute (GUCI).
CJA is currently seeking members, and anyone interested can follow and message the group’s Instagram account @jewishgreyhounds.
