A Message from the Co-Chairs Jennifer Schwartz and Larry Turow

With the High Holidays and the new year approaching, the 2021 Annual Campaign is well underway. “Moving Forward” embodied the spirit of our community as we worked to navigate the challenges of the past 18 months. But together, we faced them head on, and with your generous and steadfast support, we have helped each other and our Jewish institutions to weather the storm. We have seen firsthand the power of our collective strength, compassion, and endurance.
We are excited to be “Moving Forward”—optimistically and filled with hope for all the better days to come.
We realize that it’s important to recognize that the past year has also created incredible opportunities. We found new and innovative ways to connect with each other, to collaborate with our partners, to engage with members of our community, and to share resources within our community and with those in other communities around the country and abroad. As you leaf through this magazine, you will see the incredible work being done through your support of the Annual Campaign, and we continue to strive to meet your needs and interests as donors and involved community members.
We know that our community’s Annual Campaign continues to bring us all together—no matter what our differences—to help support one another and our shared community. As the Jewish Federation, we continue our work to assess and address the growing needs within our community to ensure that the funds are available to help meet those demands. Contributions to the Annual Campaign fund vital programs and services that help the most vulnerable among us, care for our seniors, educate and enrich our children, engage the next generation, develop leaders of today and tomorrow, keep our community safe, and so much more.
We are filled with hope for the future, but we also realize that we have not yet put the pandemic and resulting significant challenges behind us just yet. For the foreseeable future, the substantial increase in needs remain and we cannot do the important work that needs to be done—or raise the funds that are needed for our community—without your help and support. Your continued generosity will keep us strong!
As the 2021 Annual Campaign Co-Chairs, we are honored and eager to be working with such a dedicated team of volunteers, professionals, and donors. We know that together we can make the 2021 Annual Campaign a success so that we can ensure this community continues to thrive. We need to exceed a $4 million campaign for the third consecutive year, but we have a long way to go, and we will need everyone’s help.
You have shown us what we can overcome and accomplish when we come together as a community. And as it has done for nearly 120 years, each and every day, the Federation transforms, inspires, and saves lives together with our network of partner agencies and with the support of so many of you.
We truly believe in the power of what we are all accomplishing together—so much so, that when recently asked we agreed to extend our terms as Annual Campaign Co-Chairs for an additional year. We will assist during the leadership transition and the transition back to a new normal as we hope to approach the end of the pandemic.
We look forward to working with all of you and, circumstances allowing, seeing you soon in person at events and upcoming programs. We also invite you to share any thoughts, ideas, or concerns you may have about the Annual Campaign by contacting us at campaign@jfgi.org.
Thank you for all you do for our community and for ensuring that we keep “Moving Forward!” Together, we will continue to build upon the successes of recent campaigns to prepare the Federation, our partners, and our community for our evolving present—and to ensure a strong future.
Thank you for joining us and helping our community by supporting the 2021 Annual Campaign. May the new year bring us all happiness, good health and the joy of community! Shana Tovah!
