How long have you lived in Indianapolis? 19 years

Describe yourself in 100 words or less: I’m an IU grad, entrepreneur, and angel investor. I co-founded DoubleMap, which was a transit-tech company that landed on four Inc. 5000 lists before being acquired by Ford in 2019. Following Ford’s acquisition, my interests shifted to angel investing. I completed five equity deals before reverting back to entrepreneurship. I began building my new company, Megawatt, in 2021; which mines Bitcoin using renewable energy. When not at work, I’m usually building forts with my daughter, Ellie, or trying to convince my wife, Stacy, that I can still take on spicy food challenges like I did when I was in college.

How do you give back? I focus my volunteering efforts on programs where my background in tech/entrepreneurship will help make an outsized impact. I served on the board of Techpoint Foundation for Youth, where I helped raised over $1m as the asset development chair. Those funds were used to bring STEM educational programs to underserved communities around Indiana. I also volunteered in Project TEN, which is an Israeli organization that operates volunteer networks in several countries around the world. In my case, I traveled to India to run workshops on resume writing and e-work/outsourcing; which resulted in over 30 job offers for the participants.

Celebrity Doppleganger: Charlie Day

Who is a Jew who inspires you? Jon Stewart

How do you envision the Indianapolis Jewish community in the next 10 years? My hope is that the Indianapolis Jewish community will continue to strengthen, and ultimately, grow over the next 10 years. Focusing on projects and volunteering opportunities for both faith-based and culturally minded Jews will help branch out into the greater Indianapolis Jewish community.

What is one thing you look forward to as we come out of this Pandemic? I think that we were too rigid with our in-person work schedules pre-pandemic, but swung too far towards 100% remote work coming out of the pandemic. My hope is that we return to a blend of the two where we retain the flexibility of occasional remote work, while also building relationships through in-person meetings and events.

What is your proudest accomplishment in the past 10 years? My proudest personal accomplishment is becoming a dad to my daughter, Ellie. On the professional side of things, I am proud of my 10+ year journey with DoubleMap; which I started in college and eventually sold to Ford in 2019.

Any advice for younger professionals? Life only gets more complicated with time, so the best time to build something new is today! You'll be amazed at how much you'll learn during the initial few steps and how many people are willing to help out when you're building something real.
