Meet Inbar Nadir, Israeli Shlicha

Shalom dear Hoosiers!

I’m excited to write this letter because starting this September, my personal life will take a twist. I’ll be leaving behind my family and my familiar environment and will walk toward a new adventure as an Israeli Shlicha (Emissary), a new member of your community.

Let me tell you a little bit about myself. My name is Inbar Nadir, seventh generation of my family in Israel. I am 27 years old and have three sisters—Mor, Almog, and Shenhav. I am the second amongst the four. We were raised in a moshav called Kfar Warburg, which is located in the southern suburbs of central Israel. Our moshav was named after Felix Warburg, who was one of the leaders of the Jewish community in the United States at the beginning of the 20th century, as well as one of the founders of the JDC. Now I live in Jerusalem and have been here for over seven years.

I started my army service as an Academic Atuda student at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, studying English Literature, Spanish, and Latin American Studies, and earning a teaching certificate in English. Later I served for two years in the Israeli Navy, in the Ashdod base’s CO office. As part of my job, I was in charge of visitations of foreign military delegations and overseas civilians’ visits. I enjoy reading, hiking, cooking, and baking, and I would love to do all these things with new friends in Indianapolis. That is just a taste of who I am and where I am from. There are plenty more stories to be told for those of you who will be interested to hear them, and I am excited to hear your stories, too. I am looking forward to working with each and every one of you, and wish us all a wonderful year of activities and events!
